Pinch Pot Reflection
1. What are the good/strong parts of your vessel(s)? what is done well? because....
.I believe that the good strong parts of my pinch pot is the unity, because it all looks the same. The glazing was done well.
2. What do you think you could have done better on this project? because..
. I think I could have done better with getting the shape to be more even like a sphere, because it's a little lopsided.
3.Describe the attributes of your form: Is it short, tall, wide, thin, thick, round, squared, etc. How?
. It is short, and spherical, it is like this, so the the light of a tea light can radiate through it.
4. Describe the texture of your project's surface: is it rough, smooth, stippled, contoured, organic, ornamented. etc. How? because..
. The texture is smooth. I used a sponge to get the even texture, because I wanted the holes to get the most attention, and giving the pot a texture would have taken away from the holes.
5. What do you conclude about making clay projects using the pinch technique? Why? because..
. Pinch pots take less time, than other projects, but you don't get the shape as smooth and even as a slab or other project.
6. Metacognate: what did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why? because...
. I learned that all clay takes time, and how to budget my time. This will help me later on in life, because i learned how to manage time.
7. EVALUATE on the meaning of your pinch vessel: why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? elaborate..
. My pinch pot became a candle holder by chance, because I did not have a real plan before I started. As I started molding the pot, it just kind of took shape and then I just started poking holes in it.
8. What skills/ strategies will you apply on the next clay project? Why?
- I will use the smoothing techniques on later projects, because it makes the project look crisp and clean.

2-D: Gargoyle Reflection. February 23,2012
1. Evaluate: What are the good / strong parts of your project? What is done well? Why?
I think the good/strong parts of my project are the details. I think I did well on the facials because
it looks realistic
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project? Why?
I think I could’ve done a better job on the smoothness, because it isn’t very smooth.
3. Describe the attributes of your theme / unity: What is the design like? Why?
The shape is pronounced, because I wanted the facials to stand out.
4. Describe the form of your gargoyle head: what kind of 3-D shape does it have (cylindrical, spherical,
egg-like, bumpy, smooth)? Why?
· Its spherical, because it’s the shape of a real face.
5. What are the main one or two points of emphasis for your gargoyle? How did you do this? Why did you do it that way?
The mouth/tongue is emphasized, because it captures a silly expression. The nose is emphasized, because it makes him look weirder.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to others? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
I learned how to smooth two pinch pots together and make it look nice. This project taught me how to be patient and how
to get help when needed.
EXCEEDING:
7. Evaluate the design of your gargoyle: Why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? Did your final project look the way you thought it would in the beginning? Why or why not? Elaborate...
My gargoyle was designed to look creepy, and I did it this way, because I didn’t really have a plan and this is how it turned out. I didn’t have a plan in the beginning, so it didn’t turn out the way I planned, but I like it.
8. Is this a worthwhile project that Purdy should continue to use? What should Mr. Purdy do to improve this project for the future? Why?
I think this is a fun project, and it teaches people how to connect two pinch pots to create one bigger project
All about the Gargoyle project
This project is two pinch pots put together to form one solid round thing and you could make it look however you wanted.
